Cozumel, Mexico

Last year, I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful island of Cozumel. 19 kms from the mainland, this beautiful mexican island is far from anything else you’d see anywhere else in Mexico.

Culturally speaking, Cozumel is by far the most cultural and artistics places I’ve had the pleasure of visiting! The people are creative and outgoing with a strong hold on their catholic roots and Mexican heritage! They still hold a strong connection to their mayan history which was my first and most exciting stop.

We went on a four hour tour of the Mayan ruins that populate Cozumel. Before the trip, I was aware of the Mayan ruins and pyramids of Mexico but wasn’t aware of the history on the island.

Our tour was not only beautiful¬†but was a wonderful learning experience for my boyfriend and I. If you ever have the opportunity to visit these or similar ruins then please make the time for it. The Mayan culture is one of the most fascinating I’ve studied thus far.

Our tour guides we’re educated, polite and helpful and these traits carried out throughout the island. Everywhere we went there was kindness all around.

Overall, Cozumel was as beautiful and interesting as I had expected and captured my heart in a few short hours!
